The lecture and solo performance by Evgeniy Knazev


The Heydar Aliyev Center will host a lecture by the famous Russian Actor Evgeniy Knazev.


He will also present a solo performance based on Alexander Pushkin’s famous Queen of Spades story at the Heydar Aliyev Center.


Y.Knyazev is a recognized theater and cinema actor. Upon graduation from the theater studio in 1982, he served at the Vakhtangov Theater in Moscow. Here he played the role of Hermann at Queen of Spades. The performance was directed by Pyotr Fomenko. Years after, Knyazev refused from other actors and decided to turn the Queen of Spades into a one-man show where apart from Hermann, he appears as Lisa and the Countess.


With a minimum of decorations, Knyazev immerses the audience into the mystery of Alexander Pushkin’s play through a brilliant performance and masterful way of presenting the characters.


While playing at the Vakhtangov Theater, Yevgeni Knyazev succeeded in playing dozens of roles. Meanwhile, he was successful in a number of other theaters too. His movie debut was in Belated Love (1983) where he played a small part. Subsequently, he starred in a number of movies playing a lot of of historic personalities. As of the 2000’s, Knyazev was featured in TV serials. His most successful characters include Wolf Messing, Joseph Stalin, Leo Trotsky, Boris Pasternak, just to mention a few. His manner and style won him a well-deserved love of the audience.
